Susan Kaye Marra, 61 of Topeka, passed away March 28, 2018 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.

She was born February 11, 1957 to Roy and Evelyn Herring in Garden City, Kansas. Susan married the love of her life, Emmett Frank Marra, III on November 27, 1974, he survives. Susan retired from the State of Kansas in July of 2014. Susan loved scrapbooking, making scrapbooks for nieces and nephews as they graduated. She was an excellent cook; she loved doting on family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Herring.

Survivors include her siblings, all of Topeka, Marc Herring, Nancy Hewitt (Tom), Lisa Cushing; sister-in-law, Jenny Roberts (Fred); 17 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces. While Susan and Emmett had no children, they treated all of the nieces and nephews as theirs and loved them dearly.

Susan has donated her body to science in the hopes she can assist in finding a cure for Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Kansas Chapter, 6811 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Suite 202 Cloverleaf Building, Shawnee Mission, KS 66202.
