George Elbert Hodges, Sr., 62, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at a Topeka hospital ER. He was born July 8, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Harry and Bettie Ruth (Morrow) Hodges.

George was an Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam War. He attended Kansas State University. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1786 in Manhattan. After being discharged, he became a chef.

Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Nicole Mondragon of Topeka, one son, George Elbert Hodges, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, four grandchildren, Alana Nicole Mondragon, Mariah Rapier, Ladayza Mannie, Christopher Hodges and his siblings, Marlin Schrader, Susan Marie, Annette Escobar, Stephanie Gouger, Robert Hodges and Aileen Wells.

George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Schrader.

Memorial services will be announced as soon as possible. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are to be determined as soon as possible.
