Betty A. Fincher, 74, of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at a Topeka hospital. She was born September 11, 1943 in Paola, Kansas, the daughter of Earl Joseph and Elsie Marie (Brandt) Pope.

Betty graduated from Ottawa High School in 1961 and attended Kansas State University. She was employed by the Kansas Board of Regents where she retired in 2009. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Betty married Franklin Eugene "Gene" Fincher on June 25, 1967. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray Pope.

Survivors include their children, Darin (Lori) Fincher of Waverly, Iowa, Shawna (Donnie) Palmer of Topeka, six grandchildren, Makayla and Katelyn Fincher and Jacob, Emma, Caleb and Lilly Palmer, her siblings, Sharon (Merrit) Musick, Connie (Bill) Miller, Rex (Norma) Pope, Dean (Cathy) Pope, her sister-in-law, Carol Pope and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Betty will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given St. John's Lutheran Church (LWML), 901 S.W. Fillmore St., Topeka, Kansas 66606 or to the St. Francis Cancer Center, 1700 SW 7th St., Topeka, Kansas 66606.
