Norma Irene Ridgway

Norma Irene Ridgway, 81, Topeka, died Saturday, November 11, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born January 7, 1936, in Waterloo Township near Wilmington, KS, the daughter of Lloyd Otho and Ann (Knisley) Hodgson.

Norma graduated from Topeka High School in 1953, and worked for Bell Telephone for 24 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene.

On May 9, 1959, Norma was married to David Leslie Ridgway at Oakland Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her husband, David, of the home; three daughters: Ronda Pearson (Rick) of Shell Knob, MO, Sondra Ridgway of Topeka, and Stacy Merckling (Bryan) of Rockwall, TX; five grandchildren: Mandy Drake (Nate), Danielle Pearson, Bryce Merckling (Kortni), Mitchell Merckling, and Cassidy Bo Thomas (Brett), and three great-grandchildren: Teagan Drake, Gemma Merckling, and Addison Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings: Ralph Hodgson, Phyllis Nichols, and Don Hodgson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th and Menoken Road, Topeka.

Norma will lie in state from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel.
