She was born April 27, 1939, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of August J. Propst and Josephine (Gemeinhardt) Propst. She attended Eugene High School in Eugene, Missouri, Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
She married Arno H. Meyer on June 2, 1962, in Jefferson City, Missouri. Following Arno’s ordination into the Lutheran ministry, they spent nine years doing mission work in Taiwan. Upon returning to the United States, they moved to Kansas where they served congregations in Alta Vista, Wichita, and Topeka. In Topeka in 1987, they started a mission congregation which became Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Nina was active in music ministry in all of her congregations and also served as a school teacher and an administrative assistant in several cities and towns.
In 2004, at the age of 64, Nina had a stroke which left her partially
incapacitated. Upon the death of her husband in 2011, she moved to St. Louis to be close to her son.
Survivors include son, Andrew P. Meyer, Webster Groves, Missouri, and grandchildren, Emily Rude, Madison, Wisconsin, and Margaret Kennedy, Topeka. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara C. Kennedy in 1999 and husband, Arno H. Meyer in 2011.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66614.
Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. A visitation with family and friends will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
