Kathleen “Jean” Mee, 89, of Goodwell, OK, formerly of Rossville, KS, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014.

She was born December 17, 1924, in Rossville, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Edward and Sadie Viola (Oldham) Baird. She was a 1942 graduate of Rossville High School.

Jean was employed as secretary to the President of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church, Goodwell, OK and OPSU Alumni Association where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006. She volunteered at Memorial Hospital of Texas County Auxiliary for 25 years. She was active and served as a board member of Loaves and Fishes Food Bank. She was also an active supporter of OPSU Athletics.

Survivors include two children, James W. Mee, Tempe, AZ and Jane Jackson, Goodwell, OK; five grandchildren, Sherri Elsasser, Charles Mee, Andrew Mee, Sarah Bergin and Samantha Piepergerdes; seven great-grandchildren, Leo and Aaron Elsasser, Evan, Tyler and Riley Bergin and Bebel and Jasper Piepergerdes; a sister, Wilma “Billie” Dolezilek, Rossville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean enjoyed playing cards, professional baseball bus tours and visiting casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Grace Henneke, Evelyn Paine, Edna Verhage; and three brothers, Pete, Vernon “Frog” and Jake Baird.

Jean was cremated. No services are planned. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka, KS is assisting the family.
