Marion Odean Tjelmeland

Marion Odean Tjelmeland, 76, of Topeka, KS, died November 18, 2014, at Midland Hospice House of Topeka. He was born January 1, 1938, in Story County, Iowa, the son of William B. and Bertha Mae (Aneinson) Tjelmeland.

Marion served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Topeka in 1962.

Marion worked for Fleet Services and retired as a mechanic from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Plant. He was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church and a member of Teamsters Local # 307.

He was married to Wanda N. Olson on January 23, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2004. Marion was married to JoAnn (Redemske) Phillips on September 29, 2007, in Topeka.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn Tjelmeland of the home; sons: Kyle Tjelmeland (Janet) of Pagosa, CO and Kirk Tjelmeland (Kim) of Topeka; step-children: Andy Baer (Jean) of Ottawa, Marty Long (Sandy) of Topeka, Charlie Long (Terri) of Dover and Teresa Wenger (Gary) of Topeka; siblings: Bernice Strother of McCallsburg, IA, Vern Tjelmeland (Chris) of Brownsburg, IN and Dwayne Tjelmeland of McCallsburg, IA; five grandchildren: Keaton, Chase, Miranda, Connor, and Carson Tjelmeland; eight step-grandchildren: Shanda Baer, Travis Long (Trisha), Stephanie Henke (Jared), Kristen Anderson (Joe), Kathryn Long, Bryan (Stacy), Brandon and Lee Wenger; and four step-great-grandchildren: Micaiah and Mia Henke and Jadzia and Sydney Anderson. He was preceded in death by brothers, Talmer Tjelmeland and Bill Tjelmeland.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2014, at Second Presbyterian Church, 210 NW Menninger Road, Topeka. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka, KS.

Marion will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
