Joan Elizabeth Ashworth, 86, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She was born November 23, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Byers) Corkill.
Joan was employed by the State of Kansas as an Ad Assistant for many years and was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge, and most of all, spending time with her granddaughters.
Joan married Harvey D. Ashworth on August 17, 1949, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Rick) Condley; brothers, Paul and Phil (Emily) Corkill; daughter-in-law, Sharlene Ashworth; grandchildren, Ashley Condley, Sarah (Ryan) Irvin, Stephanie (Zachary) LaRue, Elise Ashworth, Samantha Powell, and Sherleen Powell; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, J. David Ashworth.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Countryside United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, Kansas 66611.
