Grace I. Gibbs, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Plaza West Care Center. She was born February 27, 1921 in Richland, KS, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Dove Rupple.

Grace was raised in Richland and moved to Topeka when she married Lester Gibbs. They lived in the Oakland community for over 60 years. She was employed part time for Pelletiers Department Store in the downtown area. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.

Grace married Lester in 1940 at Atchison, KS. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Gibbs Cain on July 22, 1959, one great-granddaughter, Amelia Wasinger, her two sisters, Violet McCarter and June Spencer and her brother, Earl Rupple. Survivors include one daughter, Marcia (Mark) Steinbock of Tecumseh, two granddaughters, Lynda (Wade) Wasinger of Lenexa, KS and Valerie (Scott) Edelman of Sabetha, KS, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Plaza West Memorial Fund, 1570 SW Westport Dr., Topeka, KS 66604 or Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St., Ste. 100 Topeka, KS 66614. The family would like to give special thanks to those two organizations as they cared for Grace. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
