James D. “Jim” Little, 80, of Auburn, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born August 5, 1932 in Russellville, AR, the son of John T. and Ethel (Thomas) Little. Jim began his military career in the U.S. Air Force in 1949. He was originally stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY, served from 1966-67 in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star and retired from Forbes Air Force Base as a Senior Master Sergeant on June 30, 1971. He later worked for Frito Lay in Topeka retiring in 1991.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist, Topeka.

Jim married Margaret Louise Warren on March 1, 1952 in Cheyenne, WY. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2000. He married Peggy Fay-Fogel on April 2, 2001 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two children, Teresa (John) Roberts, Scott (LaDonna) Little, all of Topeka; 3 grandchildren, Jason (Misti) Roberts, Sara Roberts all of Topeka and Jacob Little of Overland Park, KS; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, McKayla and Caitlin; and his twin brother, Russell J. Little, Pleasanton, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Hazel Little, a brother, Gene Little and a sister, Veta Simpson.

A funeral ceremony will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage, Topeka 66604. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Little will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66608 or the First Southern Baptist Church.
