Robert K. Shandy, 66, of Tecumseh, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. He was born November 9, 1949 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Clarence L. and Mary Marguerite (Stagg) Shandy.

Robert graduated from Manhattan High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Counseling from Fort Hays State University.

Robert served in the Kansas National Guard and the Army Reserves for 27 years.

Robert was employed for 40 years in the Kansas public schools in various teaching, coaching, counseling and administrative positions including, Glasco USD 334, Ellinwood USD 355, Liberal USD 480, Shawnee Heights USD 450 and Lawrence USD 497.

Robert was an active member of the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and Northeast Kansas FCA Chapter.

Robert enjoyed Kansas State athletics, all Kansas high school activities, all his grandchildren’s activities and working the 10 acres known as Shandy Lane with their dog, Bentley.

Robert married Mae Jean Woods on May 31, 1970 in Lebanon, KS. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Robert “Ty” (Amy) Shandy of Colorado Springs, CO, Trisha (Bryan) DeLong of Overland Park, KS, Trey (Dorie) Shandy of Prairie Village, KS, 5 grandchildren, Grant Shandy, Mason Shandy, Kayte DeLong, Avery DeLong and Reece Shandy and his siblings, Carolyn Taylor of Wyandotte, MI, Larry Johnson of Council Grove, KS and Steve Johnson of Newport, OR.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the church. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
