Betty N. Ashley, 89, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her home of health complications.

She was born March 9, 1927 in Topeka, the daughter of Everett and Flora Disney.

Betty married Charles B. Ashley December 15, 1943 in Lyndon, KS. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Fountaine.

She is survived by three sons, Ron Ashley, Steve (Carol) Ashley and Chris (Nancy) Ashley; 10 grandchildren: Ginger (Scott) McClanahan, Rebecca (Phil) Michael, Heather (Brandon) Peterson, Amy Blow, Aaron Agus, Sage Ashley, Whitney Littleton, John Ashley, “Chuck” Ashley, Amber (Tim) Wadsworth and 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Marlene Funk.

Betty was born and raised in Oakland where she attended State Street Elementary School, Holiday Junior High the Topeka High School. Then met her Husband Charles B. Ashley at the young age of 16 on a blind date. From then on Betty enjoyed many activities that involved spending time with family, friends and neighbors. Betty worked 17 years at P.N. Hirsch before it became Dollar General then two more years. Also 2 years at Forbes Field Air Force Base before closing.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence, where the family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Topeka Cemetery at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Heroes on the Water, 4423 SE. Michigan Ave., Topeka, KS 66609.
