Arthur E. Fletcher Sr., 91, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016.

He was born January 23, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Jess and Lula Fletcher.

Art attended Topeka High School and later served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

He was employed by the Pipe Fitters/Welders Union Local 165 for 52 years, retiring in 1990.

Art enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and gardening in his later years. He was known for his tomatoes.

Arthur married Ruby A. Huntsman on June 11, 1947 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2007.

Survivors include a son, Art Fletcher (Sharon) of Silver Lake, daughter Linda Wallingford (Joe) of Topeka, daughter, Leanna M. Walters (Barry) of Onaga and daughter, Lisa B. Hussong (Shawn) of Norman, OK; sister, Norma Talbott of Arvada, CO; granddaughter Kelly Fletcher, grandson Brian Fletcher, granddaughter Jennifer Fletcher, grandson Joe Wallingford, Jr., granddaughter Emily Larrison, grandson Cody Walters, granddaughter Audrey Domann, grandson Grant Hussong, grandson Mason Hussong, and grandson Cort Hussong.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold D. Fletcher.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice, 200 SW. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
