Wilma Darlene (Benson) Gregg, age 102, formerly of Topeka passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 in Sarasota, Florida. Wilma was born January 11, 1914 in Lenox, Iowa. The daughter of Robert Ellsworth Benson and Bertha (Haynes) Benson, the family moved when she was child to Lebanon, Missouri, where they lived on a farm. She graduated from Lebanon High School and married Thomas (Dan) McCulloch and later Arthur (Scout) P. Gregg. Wilma is predeceased by her parents, both previous husbands, all of her brothers and sisters: Bruce Benson, Robert Benson and Aileen (Benson) Herman, and all of her children: Jean Gregg, William D. Gregg and Jerry A. Gregg. Wilma Gregg is survived by three grandchildren: Teresa Becher of Topeka, Steven Gregg of Topeka, and Karen Neilinger (and her husband Neal) of Greenwich, CT and Sarasota, Florida; her great-granddaughter Rachel Weaver; and her great-great grandchildren Hayley, Audrey, Alexander Gathers and Ryan and Cadence Taylor.

Wilma moved to Topeka in the 1940’s, worked at Pelletier’s Department Stores in ladies’ ready to wear until the stores closed. Wilma enjoyed traveling around the world, gardening, volunteering at her church (Hope Lutheran and later Faith Lutheran Church), socializing with her lady friends, and shopping and dressing fashionably. She had an impeccable eye for fashion. Nicknamed the “energizer bunny” as she was always on the go and loved life. Wilma was a beloved mother and grandmother! And, she will be terribly missed by all.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka. Burial will follow in the Lutheran section next to her son William D. Gregg at at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
