Jerry Lee Rice

Jerry Lee Rice, 76, Topeka, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born April 13, 1940, at Yellville, Arkansas.

He attended Quincy Elementary School, Curtis Junior High School, Silver Lake High School, and was graduated from Topeka High School in 1959. Jerry worked at Cook Paints and after 17 years of service retired from Sears in 1979.

Jerry and Delta had attended Evangel Temple Full Gospel Church of Topeka.

He was married to Delta Bonnell Mayfield on July 17, 1959, in Topeka.

Surviving are his wife Delta Rice of the home; a daughter: Lori Taylor (Charles) of Topeka; a son: Shaun Rice of Dubuque, Iowa; and two grandchildren: Shelby Winiecki (Joshua) of St. George and Cheyenne Rouse of Wichita.

Jerry was preceded in death by daughter: Staci Lynn Rice on July 29, 1971; his parents, and three brothers: Warren Rice, Alfred LaVern Rice, and Ernest Rice.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, 1700 SW Seventeenth Street, Topeka.

Jerry will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
