Alice Elizabeth Lucas was born on January 10, 1926, at Silver Lake, to Harry and LaVerna May (Clark) Lucas. She moved to Heaven on February 6, 2016, from Topeka Presbyterian Manor where she had resided the past thirteen years.
She graduated from Seaman High School in 1944, and immediately went to work at Sunflower Ordinance (Powder Plant) near Eudora, Kansas, during World War II and the Korean Conflict. She also worked for S.S. Kresge and Duckwall Stores for many years, retiring from Wal-Mart in 1996.
Alice loved ceramics, gardening, and her many cats over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Richard and Wayne Lucas.
Alice is survived by her brother: Paul (Linda) Lucas of Topeka; two sisters-in-law: Betty Lucas of Iola, Kansas and Ramona Lucas of Topeka. Although Alice had no children of her own she was loved by her surviving twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 12, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral chapel.
Alice will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral chapel.
