John Henry Habiger, 84, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

John was born December 8, 1930, in Redwing, KS, to Anthony V. and Gertrude T. (Spanier) Habiger. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1949. He married his high school sweetheart, Lelia Dennis on July 9, 1951, in Topeka, KS. John then joined the United States Air Force and served his country in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. John worked as a Tire Builder at Good Year Tire for 39 years. If he wasn’t working in his yard, he was golfing or bowling. John’s whole life revolved around his family but especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lelia Habiger; two children, Rendy (Sherry) Habiger and Denna (Frank) Murray; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Betty Dennis and Wanda Rose.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony Habiger, Jr.; and sister, Anna Belle Habiger.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS. An inurnment and birthday celebration will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Mount Hope Chapel.
