Ann Marie Tibbs, 82, Tecumseh, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Saint Francis Hospital. She was born January 16, 1933, to Lawrence F. and Ada M. (McDonald) Heil.
She graduated from Topeka High School in May, 1950. Ann worked for insurance companies and agencies almost her entire life, except for two years as secretary to the Director of Adult Education at Topeka High School, until going to work for the Kansas Department of Corrections in May, 1988, where she retired in January, 1997.
Ann was married to Orville L. Tibbs on November 14, 1959. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elaine McKinley.
Survived by a daughter: Laurie Peavler (Doug) of Overbrook; two sons: Lynn Tibbs (Kimberly) of Tecumseh and Tod Tibbs (Debbie) of Oskaloosa; step-daughter: Pamela Workman of Minneapolis, MN; step-son: Michael Tibbs (Laurie) of Elk River, MN; sister: Barbara Picolet of Tecumseh; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 5, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove.
Ann will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
