Loretta Ann Bain

Loretta Ann Bain, 85, Topeka, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Home Plus-Hillsdale Place. She was born October 8, 1929, at Osage City, the daughter of Milton F. and Marion Ann (Engelson) Bostrom.

She attended a one-room school north of Lyndon until she was 12. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1947 and then attended Clark’s Business School. She worked for Meadow Gold, Foremost Dairies, and Senne Construction, retiring in 1991.

She was a member of the Auxiliary to Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W.
Loretta was married to Larry James Bain on April 11, 1948, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mindy J. Bain, in 1985.

Surviving are a son: Steven M. Bain (Linda) of Valley Falls; a daughter: Debra A. Schroeder (Collin) of Beverly, KS; a sister: Lorraine Murrison of Ponca City, OK; sister-in-law: Dorothy Schell of Topeka; four grandchildren: Matthew J. Bain (Amanda Smith) of Glendale, AZ, Jessica A. Crum (Tyler) of Caney, Carrie R. Belveal of Valley Falls, and Katie M. Fisher (Justin) of Silver Lake; five great-grandchildren: Ruth E. Bain, Connor W. Belveal, Wesley D. Belveal, Isaac S. Bain, and Bain L. Fisher; and several nieces and a nephew.

Committal services will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.

Loretta will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
