Harold Dean Criqui, 84, of Denison, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015.

He was born April 24, 1931 in Olivet, Kansas, the son of Harvey Albert and Rotha Irene (Lewis) Criqui, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Harold was employed by various construction companies including Rodney Milling Company, May Ransom Sheet Inc., and owned and operated the Criqui Construction Company, Topeka. He later farmed in the Denison area.

Harold is survived by seven children, Roger (Charisse) Criqui, Oskaloosa, Carolyn (Gary) Criqui-Miller, Topeka-Winchester, Philip (Joan) Criqui, Denison, LA” (Martin) Haines, Topeka, Thomas (Janee) Criqui, Topeka, John (Kim) Criqui, Whiting; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four siblings, June Criqui, Topeka, Howard (Shirley) Criqui, Meriden, David (GG) Criqui, Harbor City, CA, Dorothy (Jerry) Dolsky, Topeka and Roy (Janet) Criqui, Council Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Alan Criqui in 1977; and two brothers Harvey Criqui, Jr. and Donald Criqui.

Harold trained and raised mules and horses. He enjoyed spending time and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing and running a dozer.

Harold will lie in state from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2015 at the funeral home and then go in procession to the South Denison Cemetery, Denison, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
