Margaret L. "Peggy" Heald, 91, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015.

She was born November 24, 1923, in Alahandra, California, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Ure) Mosso.

Peggy was a 1941 graduate of Carbondale High School. After graduation, she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Peggy married Gordon Heald on October 7, 1956. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2010.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Horizon Class, UMW, and the Delta Theta Chi Sorority.

Survivors include daughters, Karen (Bill) Newkirk of Independence, Kansas, Marianne (Dan) Byl of Topeka, grandchildren, Philip Newkirk and Sarah Matthews, great-granddaughter, Nora Mae Newkirk, and her brother, Dave Mosso of Williamsburg, Virginia.

A memorial ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66603 or to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
