Toni grew up in Topeka, KS, where she attended Most Pure Heart of Mary School and graduated from Hayden Catholic High School and Kansas State University. She then went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Family Studies at Friends University.
Toni was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Social Services is a natural draw for the oldest of eleven. For over 30 years, she was an active mentor, held various senior level positions, and eventually Director of the Social Services the Salvation Army. She was awarded the Salvation Army Award for Excellence in Social Work in 1997. She also served as the President of the Children's Alliance. She was an active member on other boards as well. Toni was then the Regional Assistant Director for the Department of Children and Families for four years.
Toni is survived by her son, Luke Schuckman (Amber Jamis), and daughter, Caroline Schuckman (Ross Nichols) and grandchild, Eastyn; parents John F. and Margie McGivern of Topeka, sisters Theresa (Tom) Gallagher, Lisa (Scott) Belden, Lynn (Karry) McGivern, and Amy Miyamoto; brothers John (Sheila) McGivern, Mark (Eileen) McGivern, Timothy McGivern, Greg (Audrey) McGivern, Brad (Julie) McGivern, and Ryan (Katrina) McGivern.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS 67212.
A 2nd rosary will also be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka; the family will receive friends after the rosary at the funeral home until 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 W. 17th St., Topeka, KS. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS 67212.
