Iona Narvelle Millard

Iona Narvelle Millard, 91, Tecumseh, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Homestead of Auburn. She was born April 25, 1924, in Riley County, the daughter of John Benjamin and Mabel Ellen (Bennett) Morris.

Iona was raised in Topeka and graduated from Seaman High School. She was a member of the Auxiliary to Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion; life-member of the Auxiliary to Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W.; Shawnee Salon # 241 of 8 & 40; and Seaman High School Historical Society. She had worked in food service at Tecumseh South Grade School. She attended Victory City Church.

She was married to Clair Junior “Dutch” Millard on August 1, 1942, in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clair J. “Butch” Millard II on December 14, 2006; and a grandson, Danny Millard; and a grand-daughter, Jamie Glenn, in September 2012.

Surviving are a son: John W. Millard (Sharon) of Topeka; two daughters: Jean Doty (Larry) of Tecumseh, and Peggy Stillie (Ed) of Topeka; a daughter-in-law: Cris Millard of Carbondale; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Victory City Church, 2622 SE Sixth Street, Topeka. Private interment of cremains will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, at Victory City Church.
