She was born October 25, 1935 in Cobden, IL, the daughter of Adolph J. and Agnes Bradac Flamm.
Millie obtained an Associate Degree from Southern Illinois University. She resided in St. Louis, MO from 1957 - 1968 before moving to Topeka. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and did extensive volunteer work for the Salvation Army, created the School Clothing Bank for U.S.D. 501, and baked thousands of tea cakes for the Designer’s Show House fund raisers for Every Woman’s Resource Center. She enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, music, theater, traveling, tea parties, spending time with her grandchildren and was a phenomenal cook.
Millie married Don Murphy on February 1, 1958 in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2006. Survivors include three children, Brian (Liz) Murphy of Clearwater, FL, Brad (Helena) Murphy of Alameda, CA, Jill (Tony) Bettis of Colorado Springs, CO, five grandchildren, Kelsey, Dani, Grant, Grace and Miles, and her three siblings, Ed Flamm, Rose Marie Flamm and Raymond Flamm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th St., Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 where a Parish Rosary will be prayed beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Murphy Family Scholarship for Nursing c/o Topeka Community Foundation, 5431 SW 29th St., Topeka, KS 66614.
