Dr. Richard Albert Field, 85, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, KS.

He was born December 18, 1929, in Norton, KS, to Vincent Herbert and Elva (Persinger) Field. He attended District 20 Norton, KS and Almena Rural High School. In 1951, he earned a BS from the University of Kansas.

From 1951-1955 Richard obtained a Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He later completed a medical residency in anesthesiology at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA, and the U.S. Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Field practiced as an anesthesiologist for the Anesthesia Associates of Topeka from 1962 until his retirement in 1996.

On June 21, 1958, Richard married Dolores Lee Rock in Kansas City, KS.

In his free time, he enjoyed gardening at home, water sports at Pomona Lake, hunting with friends, and participating in the Topeka Audubon Society. He was also a long-time member of Countryside United Methodist Church and the Lions Club of Topeka.

Richard is survived by his wife, Dolores; four children, Debbie Ann Field-Kresie (Randall), Cynthia Sue Field, Dwight Loren Field, and Diane Kay Field; two grandchildren, Scott Kresie (Taylor) and Elizabeth Kresie; one great grandchild, Lily Anna Kresie; brother, Louis Wight Field; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Field.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Julius Chester Field and David Herbert Field.

The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers of Homestead of Topeka and Aldersgate Village, as well as long-time private nurse and assistant, Emma Low.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Dr. Field will lie in state from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. A private burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
