Karen Sue Deever, 68, of Topeka, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was born August 25, 1946, in Topeka, the daughter of Carl and Katherine Haglund, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell; son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; two grandsons: Jack and Henry; and sisters: Ann Lincoln of Topeka, and Phyllis Miller of Lady Lake, FL.
Karen graduated from Highland Park High School in 1964. She enjoyed dancing, keeping a tidy home, and socializing with anyone who would listen. She enjoyed sharing travel and memories with Bob and Sharon Deever, and sharing in the lives of her grandsons.
She was married to Darrell Deever on May 1, 1965, in Topeka, at the age of nineteen. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
She was liked by everyone who met her. Karen will be greatly missed.
In her honor, a service will be at 1:00 PM, on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. She will be laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road.
Karen will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral chapel, where her life will be celebrated with a visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
