Cecil was born on January 9, 1924 in Cedarvale, the third child of seven children born to Newton Franklin and Mabel Izetta (Lister) Bohannan. Along with his parents, 3 brothers, Wayne, Rollin & Billy, 2 sisters, Mable and Belle and grandson, David Earl Bohannan, Jr., preceded him in death.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hazel; daughter, Donna (David) Jones; son, David (Pat) Bohannan; daughter, Judy (Tommy) Webb; grandchildren, Chris (Nicole) Billups, Brooke Webb-Gennusa, Troy Webb; great-grandchildren, Krysten, Ryan & Erinn Billups, Alexia, Cecilie, Tommy Mitchell & Brenley Webb, Tommy Frank & Max Gennusa, Lenora Binkley; great-great-granddaughter, Mackinze Prue; sister, Betty (Floyd) Boss; and many nieces and nephews.
At the age of 38, Cecil accepted the Lord as his Savior. He was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene and the Gideons. To all of his family, “Grandpa’s” Christian life will be remembered as an example to live by.
In 1989, Cecil retired from Cargill (formerly Seaboard Allied Milling Co.)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 2835 SE Croco Road. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Church of the Nazarene or Gideon’s International.
