W. O. Neal, born Jan. 30, 1931, in Wanette, Oklahoma to William Odus Neal and Anna P. Way Neal passed on Saturday, March 28, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

W. O. is survived by his wife of 59 years Jean Neal of Topeka, his children Debora (Wally) Jensen, Wichita, Tom Neal, Austin, TX, Don (Jo) Neal, Pine Bluff, AR, Kay (Jeff) Scott, Kansas City, MO, Randy Neal (Lawrence Sperry) of Roeland Park, KS, and Jane (Newton) Elder, Austin, TX; grandchildren, Belle (Derek) Hake, Wichita, Watson (Natasha) Neal, Bentonville, AR, Sam (Laura) Neal, Lowell, AR, Kerry Dick (Tanner Slover), Topeka, J.J. Elder (Vianey Bautista Jaimes), Austin, TX, Karley (Chase) Thompson, Topeka and Merritt Elder of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Laurel and Paul Hake, Wichita, Jack Neal, Lowell, AR and Ryder Thompson, Topeka; brother, Jerry Neal of Amarillo, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, William Odus Neal and Anna P. Way Neal, and brothers, James Neal and Charles Neal.

W. O. retired from BRB Contractors, Inc., Topeka, in 2013 after 30 years. He graduated from Wanette High School in Wanette, Oklahoma in 1949 and The University of Oklahoma with a BS in Engineering in January 1954. He served in the United States Army from January 1954 through March 1956 as a Major in the Corps of Engineers of the 1st Infantry Division in Germany. He served on the Board of the School of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma and in various capacities at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka. He was very active in the sports activities of his children and grandchildren as well as during his high school and college years.

Family will receive friends at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka. Burial of cremated remains with military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Topeka.
