Robert W. “Bob” Ricklefs, 68, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was born October 17, 1946 in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Raymond John and Norma Helen Gielau Ricklefs.

Bob graduated from the University of Illinois in 1967. He served as a Captain in the Army Finance Corps during the Vietnam War. After his service, he joined Farm Bureau Insurance in 1974.

Bob retired in April, 2001 as Agency Manager of Shawnee County Farm Bureau, CLU, LUTCF. He served on Kathleen Sebelius’s Advisory Committee as well as many other professional organizations. He was a member of the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Arab Shrine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and spending time outdoors. Bob married Judith E. Dennis on November 13, 1967 in Glennburnie, Maryland. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Scott Ricklefs of Overland Park, KS, Brian Dennis (Tynet) Ricklefs of Springfield, MO, Elizabeth Anne (Adam) Cordova of Lawrence, KS, seven grandchildren, Jordan, Haley, Sydney, Augustus, Brynn, Rae and Nora, his father-in-law, Carl R. Dennis and his siblings, Steve Ricklefs, Becky Cioni and Mark Ricklefs.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Walther League Camp Okoboji, 1531 Edgewood Dr., Milford, IA, 51351 or to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO, 63131. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
