Eugene W. McNish, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Midland Hospice. He was born on October 24, 1918 in Deerfield, MO to William L. and Della E. (Draulents) McNish. He was a mover and packer for Topeka Transfer and Storage where he retired in 1980. On September 1, 1940 he married E. Mary Pomeroy, she preceded him in death on March 3, 2005. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Gene is survived by his two sons, Charles McNish of Topeka and Ron McNish of Overland Park; one daughter Eileen Bedell of Papillion, NE; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; and one brother Bill McNish of Cottonwood Falls, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, his son James L. McNish in 1998, and six siblings. A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Gene will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1 at the funeral home with visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Cir, Topeka, KS 66606.
