Larry Schlink
1952 - 2014

Larry Eugene Schlink, 62, of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at his home. He was born February 3, 1952 in Topeka, the son of Glenn and Helen Louise Frakes Schlink. Larry graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1970 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Washburn University in 1981. He retired from the State of Kansas as a Physical Plant Supervisor after 30 years of service.

Larry married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Fike on June 18, 1972 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include: their children, Andy (Christy) Schlink, Charlie (Jeanna) Schlink and Amy (Matt) Dubach; seven grandchildren, Sarina, Austin, Hannah, Justin, Andrew and Macy Schlink and Ava Dubach; his siblings, John Schlink, Nancy Stringfellow, Donna Brannan, Jim Schlink and Bob Schlink; and a foreign exchange student-daughter, Maggy Schiller, from Germany who lived with Larry and Cindy for the 2011-2012 school year. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Allen Schlink and Dale Schlink, and his beloved Black Lab, Joe.

Larry grew up on a dairy farm and lived all his life in Berryton. He was a hard worker who paid close attention to detail. His experience and professionalism were reflected in the high quality of his work. In 1978, he and his dad built the house that his family lives in, and Larry took pride in keeping his home and yard well cared for. He enjoyed living in the country and working outside. His family was his hope and inspiration for living. He dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren! His favorite, well-worn t-shirt said: "Property of My Grandkids."

Larry was interested in genealogy and researched his family tree. He was an avid newspaper reader and enjoyed doing the puzzles. Larry was a big fan of westerns and John Wayne movies. Vacations were an essential part of Larry's life. He and Cindy took yearly summer vacations with their children when they were growing up and recently took three family cruises with all their kids and grandkids! Treasured memories for all!
