Joseph ”Joe” Scully, 60, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 09, 2011 from a short battle with cancer.
He was born April 13, 1951 in Topeka, the son of Joseph Scully Sr. and Marge (Goldsmith) Scully.
Joseph was a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School in 1969.
He was self-employed in route sales and worked in the business for 50 years.
Joseph married Ruth Frye on February 1, 1974 in Topeka, she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Joseph “Trey” Scully III and Jonathan “Jon” (Amanda) Scully; Two granddaughters, Kiley and Kayla Scully; his mother, Marjorie Scully; one sister, Jane Marie (Clint) Schmidtberger; a niece, Misti Boyden and a nephew, Steve Billbe, as well as 13 nieces and 11 nephews on his wife’s side, as well as several very close family friends (you all know who you are).
He was preceded in death by Joseph Scully Sr.
“Little Joe” was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, family man and KU fan. He placed his family before himself his whole life, and will be missed by many.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Ruth Scully, for the designation of the family’s choice.
