Trey Christopher McCluskey, 25, passed away tragically in a car accident outside of Mayetta, KS, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

Trey was born February 23, 1993, at St Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS, to Dale and Katie (Mathes) McCluskey. He graduated from Sabetha High School in 2011. Trey earned an associates degree from Independence Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Midland University in Fremont, NE in May 2015. He was employed by the Topeka Police Department since July 2015.

He married his high school sweetheart, Taylor Renee DeMint on January 14, 2017, in Manhattan, KS.

Trey loved spending time with his wife, family and friends, playing pool, and watching the Green Bay Packers and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a true sports enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife; parents; three sisters, Shandie (Nathan) Stewart, Keli McCluskey, and Karli Jo McCluskey; paternal grandmother, Virginia McCluskey; and special nieces, Burlynn Rose McCluskey and McCallynn Stewart; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Trey was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Darlene Mathes; and paternal grandfather, Jack McCluskey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Mater Dei Holy Name, 1114 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. A Rosary will be prayed from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 W 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fraternal Order of Police, P.O. Box 1541 Topeka, Kansas 66601.
