In Memory Of
Marc Couch
1957 - 2018

Marc Couch, 60, of Topeka, passed away on May 25, 2018 following an illness. Marc was the son of Helen Couch, who preceded him in death in 2009. Marc is survived by his Guardian, Randi Grubbs, and numerous friends and staff from TARC, where he spent nearly 40 years of his life, and SLI, where he has lived for the past 26 years,

Marc will be remembered for his incredible love for his mother Helen, of whom he literally would not let go when she came for a visit. Likewise, he was known as being the “absolute light of her life.”

Marc was always seen with his transistor radio held as close to his ear as possible. This was true right up until the time of his passing. He loved listening to, attending and watching baseball games-particularly the Kansas City Royals. He was a HUGE fan of George Brett and went a little crazy when his name was mentioned. If he couldn’t find a Royals game on radio, he was happy with the Farm Report or almost any Talk Radio program that was available. At home, he enjoyed watching news programs, and was an enthusiastic fan of Judge Judy, Martha Stewart, and Katie Couric. To say he preferred female broadcasters is an understatement. Not surprisingly he preferred the attention of female friends and staff and was known as quite the ladies’ man.

Marc’s mother Helen loved animals, and passed that love on to Marc. One of his favorite activities at TARC was having the Zoo come for a visit. He enjoyed seeing, learning about, and touching the exotic animals. He was always brave, more so than staff, about touching the reptiles! Marc particularly looked forward to attending the Farm Show at the Expo Center each year.

In addition to his love of sports, women, and animals-Marc never met a dessert he didn’t like-which no doubt contributed to his sweet disposition!

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at TARC, 2701 SW Randolph, Topeka. A reception will follow.

Private burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to TARC or to SLI (Sheltered Living).
