Lora Maxine Horton, 86, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018.

She was born December 28, 1931, in Lebo, Kansas, the daughter of Curtis and Eva (Wentworth) Watson.

She graduated from Lebo High School.

Maxine was employed as a lunch lady for USD 501 for over 20 years retiring in 1994.

Maxine married Robert E. Horton on October 18, 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers-Cotton and Guy; four sisters-Edna, Laurie, Carm and Annie.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Jim) Mowder; son, Robert E. "Bob" (Janeen) Horton, II; grandchildren, Adam Mowder, Audrey Horton, Robert E. "Trey" Horton,III; sisters, Wanda Freund, Dot Jones, Bet Sergeant.

Maxine was a caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and knitting. She was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and sugar cookies.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka. A Graveside Service will be 10:00 am., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Ave. Topeka.
