Dena graduated from Berryton High School. She was employed as a Bookkeeper by the State of Kansas and as a clerk for Cotton-O’Neil for several years prior to retiring. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was involved with Steven Ministries.
Dena married Bernard K. Rodell March 20, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1978. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Herrmann.
Survivors include their children, Carl (Karen) Rodell and Paula Rodell both of St. Louis, Missouri, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Rebecca Rodell and her sister, Erma Payne of Berryton.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at First Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Dena will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21,2018 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn Rd., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
