Vivian A. Burd, 96, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born December 22, 1921 in Melvern, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Cleo M. (Kelley) Fanning.

Vivian was employed by the Hercules Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas, a gift wrapper at Crosby Brothers and as a Dietary Aide for Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka before retiring. She volunteered in the Stormont-Vail gift shop after retiring. She was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church and the Lecompton Rebekah Lodge.

Vivian married William Henry Burd on July 3, 1938 in Hartford, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Brad Lee and Mariah Hollenbeck and her sister, Iris.

Survivors include their children, William "Leroy" (Roberta) Burd of Lecompton, Darel "Dean" (Debra) Burd of Topeka, one sister, Linda Lee (David) Mead of Jackson, Michigan, seven grandchildren, Steven Burd, Stacey Burd Nichols, Levi Burd, Lisa Burd, David Hollenbeck, Angel DeLoin, Lisa Sweet, fourteen great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Pine, Michael Burd, Lisa Burd, Cody Nichols, Heather Mundy, Ashton Hollenbeck, Amber Hollenbeck, Ryan McMangel, Skyla Hollenbeck, Josh Sweet, Courtney Sweet, Braiden Burd, Britain Burd, Brynna Burd, and five great-great-grandchildren, Kayden Sweet, Kambri Sweet, Camden Jones, Brynnlie Sweet and Aria Mundy.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Big Springs United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery at Big Springs. Vivian will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Big Springs United Methodist Church, 96 Hwy. 40, Lecompton, Kansas 66050.
