Adalee Marie Cunning-Moffitt

Adalee Marie Cunning-Moffitt was born November 8, 1923, in Meriden, Kansas to Roy and Anna Ammen Cunning. She died Monday, February 12, 2018, at her Meriden home.

She graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1941. She was a member of the Meriden Community Church, Jefferson County Historical Society, Jefferson County Genealogy Society, Platte County Genealogy Society, and the N.R.A.

Adalee was married to Vernon Clark in 1946 and had 2 children, Beverly Clark and Carrol Clark. They divorced, she married Earl “Lee” Moffitt in 1956, he died in 2000. They bought the Ernest Cunning farm and lived there their whole lives. Adalee was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Melba Persing, and granddaughter, Mary Kate Clark.

She is survived by her two children: Beverly Clark-Goodyear of Topeka and Carrol Clark of Piqua, Kansas; four grandchildren: Tod Adams of Denison, Jason Clark of Wichita, Matthew Clark of Piqua and Sarah Clark of Piqua; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren: Amber Wells of Carbondale, Danny Adams of Denison, Ariel Adams of Denison, Briar Adams of Topeka, and Mya Clark Theim of Wichita; 14 step-great-grandchildren: 7 great-great-grandchildren; nephews: Thomas Persing of Topeka, Douglas Persing of Meriden; niece: Jennifer Persing of Meriden; and her friend of many years, David McKee.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Meriden Community Church. Cremation will follow.

Adalee will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
