Darlene “Kay” Albrecht, 78, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

She was born January 18, 1939, in Cass Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of John Arthur and Mary Louise (Roy) Vezina.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Kay married Garold R. Albrecht, Sr. on November 6, 1954 in Mt. Iron, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2016. The couple resided in Topeka most of their lives.. Survivors include a daughter, Karen L. Branam, Ozawkie, KS; a son, Garold R. Albrecht, Jr., Dothan, AL; five grandchildren; Elizabeth Sage, Stacey Sage, Brandon Winchester, Trevyn Albrecht, and Devyn Albrecht; and five great-grandchildren; Blaine Baird, Owen Winchester, Grayson Sage, Benson Winchester, and Lincoln Ebert.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Darlene enjoyed baking, decorating cakes, bowling, raising and breeding Persian cats, shopping and spending time with grandchildren.

Honoring her request, Kay was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be given to No One Veteran Dies Alone Fund, Voluntary Services T135, 2200 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66622.
