James M. “Jim” Jackson, 85, Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at a local hospital.

Jim was born July 4, 1932 in Lawrence, the son of Jefferson and Ella Mae Jackson

He graduated from Lawrence High School and Washburn University with a Business Administration Degree

He served in the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry Division during the Korean War.

He was a Real Estate Appraiser as well as a Broker, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene and the Lawrence Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M.

Jim married Helen Frazier on September 14, 1957 in Ottawa. His wife of 60 years survives. Other survivors include son, Steven (Angela) Jackson; and granddaughter, Phoebe Jackson, all of Santa Fe, NM. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene.
