George W. Clark, 99 years, 11 months, of Topeka, went Home to be with his Lord on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born January 11, 1918 in Centralia, Kansas, the son of Ray R. and Theressa (Meyers) Clark.

George graduated from Corning High School in 1936. He was an Army Veteran during WWII. He served as the City Fire Chief and was a member of the Corning City Council and a member of the American Legion. He was a self-employed auto mechanic for 29 years. George and his wife moved to Topeka in 1970 where he was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 17 years.

George married Jean Kennedy on March 13, 1944 in Carson City, Nevada. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2011. George was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Brown, one grandson, Todd Armstrong, three sisters, Vivian Cozad, Eileen Kranz and Teresa Schultz, and his brother, Noel Clark.

Survivors include two daughters, Maureen Armstrong of Plymouth, Michigan, Dixie Clark of Topeka, one son, Michael (Nancy) Clark of Fort Myers, Florida, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place in Valley Brook Cemetery in Osage County at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606 or to the Topeka Community Cat Fix c/o Betty Athey, 2713 SW 33rd St., Topeka, Kansas 66614.
