I worked for Dave Kern it for several years as a training instructor for RSI. Dave was a very very kind man. I remember one time that I was supposed to go on some restaurant inspections with an area supervisor from RSI and my dog had passed away that morning. Well I called the area supervisor and explained how upset I was that my dog had died that morning and he was not very sympathetic which upset me a great deal. Then after I got off the phone I realized that I might need to call Dave and kind of explain what was going on so that I was not terminated. So I called Dave and I explain to him that I wasn't going to be able to come that day and he asked why and I explain to him that my dog had passed away and I was very very upset I just needed a day and then I would probably be okay, and Dave came back with the comment "If my dog had died this morning I would need a lot more than a day, I would probably need a week or two so don't you worry about it if anyone has anything to say I'll take care of it". I will never forget that. It was one of the kindest things that anyone had done. Dave I'm going to miss you even though I haven't seen you for a while. I still consider you not just my boss but my friend.
Sincerely Kristine Whitson

To Carolyn, Sheri and Christy.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
It deeply saddened me to hear of Dave's passing. I liked, respected and admired Dave. Whenever I encountered him I was greeted with a warm smile, a handshake and a tremendously positive attitude. Dave seemed like he could fit well in any company and was as easy a person to talk to as any I've ever known. He was also easy to get to know, laugh with and seek counsel from. It was easy to see that Dave cared about everyone in his life and even people he didn't know. As successful as he was professionally, I think it's probably a given that he was in that elite 5% (or fewer) of the population that either knew how to do something well, make things better or work at something in order to get things right. As I read of some of his achievements, the realization fell on me that Dave was truly a great man, a man of great character, respect and dignity. He was a true gentlemen so to speak, along with being a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. His dedication, time, energy and financial support with charitable organizations made him a valuable benefactor to his community, the University of Kansas and of course, to his family.
I will miss Dave Curnutt for all of the reasons above and more but I will miss him as a friend to me personally and to our family. In my view, his life was one of quality, of success and of love. His legacy will no doubt live on in the lives of Carolyn, Sheri and Christy along with his grandchildren and even great-grandchildren as his way of caring for others is easy to see in every family member.
Dave is now in a better place, with better people after a life very well lived.

David was interested in the work of Midland and came for a tour. Although I know he had many other things to do he gave of himself and his time in a manner that left no doubt he was there to listen and learn.
He is missed. heartfelt condolences to the family.

Carolyn and Cheri,
It was a shock to hear of Dave's passing. He was one of the good guys who cared so much about Pizza Hut.
At IPH Board Meetings, he would always fight the fight for the franchisees.
He will be missed.

Dave was a huge supporter of Pizza Hut with
his insight and feedback; more importantly a
loyal friend and advisor!
Rest In Peace,

My memories of Dave begins on the golf course and his victory in the 1952 City Junior Championship, Jr. Flight at TCC. I believe he defeated Jimmy Greenwood in the finals. Dave was a great putter in those days and as always loved the game. Of course this was followed by much business success but he never forgot those early days on the links and whenever I saw him that was our topic; that and. of course, his family. I shall miss those chats. God Bless You All. Larry B.

Very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I will always remember & be grateful for Mr. Curnutt giving me a job after high school working in his office. While I didn’t work for him very long, he needed some help & was gracious to help me as I figured out what I wanted to do, post high school. May you all spend much time together in remembering Dave’s legacy as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & business man. Praying for peace for each of you. Warren & Tracy
