Erna G. Nichol, 93, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Springfield, MO and Hutchinson, KS, passed away on November 13, 2017.

She was born on June 1, 1924 in Pretty Prairie, KS to Joe and Elsie Graber. She graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1942 and went on to attend Bethel College in Newton, KS.

She married Richard Tipton on June 4, 1959. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1975.

She married Richard Nichol on April 24, 2004. He survives. Other survivors include two sisters, Hazel Kliever, of VA, and Kathy Nachtigal of MO, and sister in law, Lorene Graber of KS. She had three children, Greg (Lynn) Tipton, Ruth Ann Tipton, and Steve (Ellie) Tipton. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Elsie Graber; first husband, Richard Carl Tipton; two brothers, Vern and Bob Graber; and her sister in law, Lena Mae Graber.

Erna worked as a nurse in many locations and retired as a Hospice Nurse in Springfield, Missouri. She was recognized as the Hospice Nurse of the year for the State of Missouri in 2002.

In following her wishes, Erna was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, 511 SE 37th Street, Topeka.

An additional memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Road, Hutchinson, KS.

Private burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee Relief Fund, 121 E. 30th Street, North Newton, KS 67117 or to Brewster Place.
