Karl Meisel died on Monday, October 2, 2017 at home. He was born on March 31, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His marriage at Summerfield United Methodist Church was 61 years ago to Shirley Knecht. She survives with their children: Julie McCune, Karl Meisel and Mark Meisel and beloved grandchildren: Katie and Mollie, and Isabella and Chole.

He served in the Army for 21 years and retired as LTC in 1975 at Ft. Leavenworth. He then worked as Assistant Director of Development and later the Director at Saint Mary College in Leavenworth. He left that position to attend St. Paul’s School of Theology and graduated with his Masters of Divinity and became ordained. He retired after 14 years serving as Pastor in the United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7 at Countryside United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
