She was born on June 4, 1933 in Landstuhl Germany to Heinrich Kohl and Katharina Bonnert.
She retired from the VA in 1996.
Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping and being involved in events with the GACOT.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, mother and father, a brother, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Gertrude is survived by her sisters, Inge Bianga and Waldraude Johnson, her daughters, Sandy Baker-Adams (Keith), Ursula Cooper, Barb Strickland, Irene Strickland, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Funeral Chapel and Reception Center. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
