Allen Kenneth Neuhaus, 88, of Tecumseh, passed away September 20, 2017, at McCrite Plaza under the care of Avalon Hospice. He was born January 6, 1929, in Sterling, Nebraska, the son of Herbert J. and Dora A. (Will) Neuhaus.

Allen was a 1946 graduate of Adams High School in Adams, Nebraska, and veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea and Japan from 1952-1955. He worked for DuPont/Flexel for 33 years before his retirement in 1991.

On October 9, 1955, in Nortonville, Kansas, he married Gladys I. Davis. She survives of the home. They enjoyed 61 years together being blessed with three children and nurtured many foster children.

Allen was a member of the former Hope Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities. He and Gladys are current members of Christ Lutheran Church.

Allen is also survived by daughter, Diane and her husband Matthew Greer and their children, Dallas and Meredith; daughter, Cheryl Smith and her children Cooper, Parker, and Haley; and special son-in-law, Ernest Ehrhart and his wife Michelle and their children Dakota, Mason, and Jordan.

He was preceded in death by three infant siblings; brother, Cecil Neuhaus; sister, Blanche Flanery. He was also preceded in death by son, Kenneth in February of 2017 and granddaughter, Megan Greer in October 1989.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66605, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, Avalon Hospice, or charity of the donor’s choice.
