Maxwell Lawton “Max” Taylor, 91, Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017.
He was born May 31, 1926, in Larned, Kansas, the son of Ralph Eldred and Mary (Lawton) Taylor.

He graduated from Larned High in 1947. Max was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.
Max moved to Topeka in 1949. He worked at Topeka Supply Depot for nine years before joining the Kansas Department of Revenue, where he retired after 27 years.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Topeka Civic Symphony, Topeka Jazz Workshop, Inc. and previous member of Topeka Community Concert.

Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Virginia Keast, Harry Taylor, Bob Taylor and Louella Houdyshell.

Max enjoyed working in the yard, going to Jazz concerts and going to Bobo’s Drive-In.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 10th & Lane, Topeka. Private inurnment will be at Larned Cemetery in Larned, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Jazz Workshop, Inc. or First Presbyterian Church.
