Richard “Rick” Johnson Welch, 69, Topeka, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was born May 5, 1948, in Hutchinson, the son of Jack Richard and Billie Jean (Johnson) Welch.
Rick attended Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Junior College. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He was employed by AT&T in Hutchinson, Topeka, Salina, Olathe, and Kissimmee, FL, retiring in 2004. Rick was a member of the AT&T Pioneers.
Surviving are a sister: Janet Williams of Topeka; a niece: Debbie; three nephews: Robert, Todd, and Matt; an aunt: Barbara Johnson; and very close cousins: Vickie, Valerie, and Jeannie. Rick was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings: William "Bill" Welch, Peggy Jean Welch, and Michael Bryan Welch.
Memorial graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 25, 2017, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson.
