He was born July 19, 1927 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Isaac H. and Tena E. Balzer.
Robert married Bernita Loemker on September 4, 1960. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Denise Balzer (fiance Lance Litton) of Gardner, KS, and Beth (Tobin) Ortstadt of Wichita and grandchildren Katarina and Benjamin Ortstadt of Wichita.
Mr. Balzer will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, 511 S.E. 37th St., Topeka, KS 66605, with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Hills Mennonite Church.
