Lee Norman McMahan, 75, a lifelong resident of Topeka, Ks, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 in Blue Springs, Mo. after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Lee was born to the late Norman and Elva (Schrader) McMahan on March 21, 1942 in Topeka. He graduated from Highland Park high school and earned a degree from Emporia State University. After graduation, he worked for several years in retail before entering military service. He was honorably discharged. After returning home, he worked for the State of Kansas for nearly 30 years. In his spare time, Lee was an avid handyman. He spent many years remodeling his homes. He shared that interest and those skills with his family, friends, and the congregation members of his church.

Lee was united in marriage to Ane Magdalene Winter on May 31, 1981. They were married for 33 years. They were great partners, spending countless hours together on their hobbies, gardening, and “garage sale-ing”. Many friends and family members were beneficiaries of their thoughtful purchases and craftsmanship.

He is survived by his brother; Lanny (Julie) McMahan of Topeka, his children; Scott (Sara) McMahan of Blue Springs, MO, David Hawley II of Valley Falls, KS, and Daneva Ane Coker (Cynthia Waterman) of Lecompton, Ks and his grandchildren; Morgan McMahan, Ryan McMahan, Calvin (Whitney) Coker, Rachael Coker, and Alexandra Coker.
